Multi-purpose cupboard door

This cupboard door redo is one of my favorites that I've done so far. It holds all of our coats and scarves, but I can also write messages on the chalkboard for Mackenzie. It's the last thing she sees before leaving the house, that way I can gently remind her not to forget things or just that I love her. I am also planning on adding clothes pins to the top ruler so that I can clip notes onto it. It'll be a great place to organize all of the notes to send to school.

wall hangings with sparkle

This started as a cabinet door from Habitat-but it was already unfinished. I painted the door, Mackenzie painted and added the swirls to the paper mache "M" and it was a done deal.

This started off as a brown cabinet door. I stripped the veneer finish off and painted it black. It was just that easy-well the veneer was really stubborn, but eventually it came off! I added some embellishments that I bought from Michaels and a few other thrift store finds and tada!

Dresser Facelift

This is a cheap dresser that was sooo boring. I've had it ever since Mackenzie was a baby. I found this great wrapping paper at Target and covered the drawers with it. I also found new hardware at a junk store that matched the theme pretty well.

Transom Signs

I made this sign from an old transom that I received from my Mom. I believe she purchased them from someone that was tearing down an old farmhouse. I have a bunch so be on the lookout for more! I'm not completely satisfied with this one, but it'll do for now! Good thing for me art is subjective! Too bad I'm a perfectionist!!

This is a sign that I made (by request) for my Mom for Christmas. We haven't celebrated yet so hopefully she won't see it :) This is a saying that she's always said to my daughter and now to my neice, and I'm sure she will say it at bedtime for years to come!

Make-up Train Case Makeover

This started as an old, worn train case that I purchased at an estate sale for a few dollars. I turned it into a case for my daughter so that she could have all of her nail polishes in one spot. I found wallpaper at Target that matched her new tween room, but I wanted the inside to be more fun (and hide any polish remover spills that might happen!). I removed all of the original inside and outside and then mod podged the paper on. I added trim to the outside-mostly to hide my uneven edges of cutting the paper, but I think it was a good finishing touch. She loved it!

Apothecary Jars

Here are some odds and ends jars, vases, and lids that I found on various thrift store shopping trips. I love the way they turned out. I can't wait to decorate them for other holidays!

Mackenzie's Room is finally done!!

Mackenzie's room before:

I have finally "finished" my daughter Mackenzie's room. It's never really done, but this will do for now. The next big thing is to redo her bed, either by painting it or constructing her an entirely new bed.

Here is the dresser I bought at Goodwill for $15-isn't it great!

And here is the after:
